Online scams are a major part of the cybersecurity frontier, said Pooja Shimpi, CEO and co-founder of SyberNow, who pointed out that cybercriminals carry out scams that might seem impossible to pull off. Criminals no longer need to exploit weaknesses in technology. They trick people, which is why citizens online, or netizens, need to be more mindful before clicking on links or engaging with unknown people.

In this video interview with Information Security Media Group at the Mumbai Summit, Shimpi also discussed:

  • Whether CISOs should be held solely liable for data security incidents;
  • The importance of shared responsibility when preparing for and responding to security incidents;
  • Efforts to ensure that women in cybersecurity get the same opportunities men do to grow their careers.

Shimpi has spent a major part of her cybersecurity career training corporate clients on ways to deal with spear-phishing attacks and tactics employed by scammers. Previously featured in Top Cyber News Magazine's "Global 40 Under 40 in Cybersecurity," she participates in global mentorship and training programs on cyber mindfulness and serves as a member of the ISC2 Global Advisory Council for Global DEI Initiatives. She is a member of the CyberEdBoard.
