"It's OK to fail or misstep," said Benoit, president of Cyber Risk Insights. "That's what makes you a stronger leader: being able to be vulnerable and recover, and show the team how to recover from missteps."
When team members make mistakes, Benoit advises asking constructive questions. "The question is what is in your background, your experience or what have I not given you that makes you think that was a good decision?"
In this video interview with Information Security Media Group, conducted as part of CyberEdBoard's ongoing Profiles in Leadership series, Benoit also discussed:
- His approach to transforming chaos into success through small, achievable steps;
- How people and passion form the core of effective security programs;
- His commitment to extreme ownership and continuous learning in leadership.
