From CNAPP to CDR: The Cybersecurity Road Ahead

Wiz's Raaz Herzberg on Market Consolidation and Securing Cloud Environments
Raaz Herzberg, CMO and vice president of product strategy, Wiz

Wiz, a cloud security company, has recently announced $1 billion funding with a total valuation of around $12 billion. Shedding light on Wiz's recent developments, Raaz Herzberg, the company's chief marketing officer and vice president of product strategy, said Wiz plans to invest in talent acquisition, product innovation and potential expansions through acquisitions.

Herzberg discussed how AI-powered threats and transformation in the cybersecurity landscape have propelled Wiz's strategic initiatives, which include the acquisition of Gem Security, a leader in cloud detection and response, or CDR. The acquisition aligns with Wiz's core competency in cloud-native application protection platform, or CNAPP, enhancing its capabilities to secure cloud environments, she said.

"What is a CNAPP? A CNAPP is looking at your cloud and AI infrastructure and enabling organizations to protect and mitigate the risks in that infrastructure," Herzberg said. "What’s enabled our growth in the past four years is that cloud deeply transformed how organizations need to protect their environment."

In this video interview with Information Security Media Group at RSA Conference 2024, Herzberg also discussed:

  • The imperative for market consolidation;
  • The challenges and opportunities presented by AI innovation;
  • Wiz's commitment to adaptability and resilience in the face of evolving customer needs and cybersecurity challenges.

At Wiz, Herzberg leads the various product aspects, its marketing team and its positioning in the cloud security market.
