Compliance: 'I Might Get Breached, But I Will Get Fined'

Interview with Tim Harvey, CEO of Perimeter E-Security, on Balancing Security and ComplianceNot long ago, Tim Harvey, new CEO of Perimeter E-Security, spoke with a CIO of a financial services firm, asking him how he achieved the balance between regulatory compliance mandates and information security risks. "I might get breached," the CIO said. "But I will get fined."

To Harvey, this response exemplifies the challenge organizations face in weighing risks, compliance and resources.

In an exclusive interview, Harvey discusses:

  • Top security and compliance challenges for organizations;
  • How his customers are responded to those challenges;
  • Emerging technologies and trends to track in 2011.

As President and COO, he helped manage the company's significant growth leading to an IPO in August, 2000 and subsequent merger.
